The Pelham Police Department, along with the Pelham Fire Department and the City of Pelham will host National Night Out, Tuesday, October 3, 2023, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Pelham City Park. This family-friendly event is designed to allow members of the community to meet their neighbors and get to know their local first responders. A free hot dog dinner will be provided by Church of the Highlands Riverchase Campus and First Baptist Church Pelham, and people of all ages will enjoy seeing fire trucks and police equipment, displays from community and non-profit organizations, and activities for children.
National Night Out is an annual, nationwide community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The focus of the event is on public safety, and Pelham's National Night out is no exception. Pelham Police Chief Brent Sugg said, "The City of Pelham began participating in National Night Out in 2016. The City of Pelham and the Pelham Police Department fully support the mission and spirit of National Night Out. This event has grown significantly over the years, and we look forward to enjoying a time of food and fellowship with the citizens we serve." Pelham Fire Chief Mike Reid expressed his enthusiasm for National Night Out. He said, "We appreciate the opportunity to partner with the Pelham Police Department to demonstrate all aspects of public safety."
The event is free and open to the public.
