CPR Saves Lives

According to the American Heart Association, "Cardiovascular disease is the single greatest cause of death in the United States. Every year more than 480,000 adult Americans die of a heart attack or related complications. About half of these deaths (some 225,000) result from sudden cardiac arrest. Sudden cardiac arrest can complicate a heart attack. If it does, it is most likely to occur during the first hour after the onset of symptoms of a heart attack, typically before the victim arrives at the hospital. Sudden cardiac arrest will result in death unless emergency treatment is provided immediately."

Starting the Chain of Survival (CPR) is important in order to save lives.

Training Classes

The Pelham Fire Department hosts Skills Testing dates for the following AHA Blended Learning courses: Heartsaver CPR AED and BLS Provider. Blended learning is a combination of eLearning, in which a student completes part of the course in a self-directed manner online, followed by a hands-on session. Successful blended learning can reach students with varying learning styles and in different environments. It combines the flexibility of online training with skills practice and testing for CPR with an AHA instructor. After completing the online portion of the class, class participants will sign up for one of the designated skills dates hosted at the Pelham Fire Department Training Facility located at 663 Stuart Lane, Pelham, AL 35124. The Pelham Fire Department has several American Heart Association Instructors that promote an enjoyable and stress-free learning environment.
